A new book about technical system evolution (TRIZ) by Nikolay Shpakovsky.
In October 2009, the Moscow publishing house “Forum” published the book “Analysis of Technical Information and Generation of New Ideas” by Nikolay Shpakovsky. The book is dedicated to the improvement of inventive problem solving methods and methods of forecasting the evolution of products for winning a patent struggle in particular.
A heightened attention to this aspect of innovation activity can provide a considerable benefit to a company whereas its underestimation can lead to serious losses.
In solving inventive problems and in forecasting, of great importance is adequate and effective processing of information about different versions of a technical system. Only properly classified information, that is, creation of a full and logical information structure, allows effective analysis of information.
To provide such structuring, the author has developed a special classification method for technical information. It consists in organizing information into an Evolution Tree. Using the Evolution Tree provides tangible advantages at all stages of dealing with information: search, analysis and production of new information units. In other words, the Evolution Tree is effective there where it is necessary to see an integral picture of technical system evolution, all its basic versions, including the most unique and promising ones. It is especially important for strategic planning of production, innovations and business.
An Evolution Tree is built from technical system evolution patterns. The book offers a detailed description of a basic, abstract Evolution Tree as well as an Evolution Tree of a specific, real technical system. The step-by-step building of the Evolution Tree of a display is given as an example. The reader can observe the process of systematizing the variety of display designs, formation of trends and aligning the huge information array into a well-knit system. The Display Evolution Tree helped to find several new prognostic solutions: a display with a dynamic bas-relief screen, a notebook with a detachable display, a “color” tactile display for the blind and cecutients. The book shows how to use the Evolution Tree for solving inventive problems, circumventing patents and forecasting technical system evolution. The offered methods are illustrated by examples from the author's practical experience.
