Is TRIZ a science or not?
Some say it certainly is and motivate it by that TRIZ has a formula. This formula expresses the ideality of a machine or a process through the ratio of the benefit it provides to the price to be paid for this benefit. Yet this formula is one and only, opponents say.

Second seminar of TRIZ practitioners working in South Korea was conducted on October 29, 2011. It was seminar of professionals for professionals, 11 TRIZ practitioners participated in this colloquium.

On 24 September 2011, there was held a workshop of TRIZ professionals working in the South Korea. The workshop format was “a professional for a professional”; the number of participants was 11.

People have been cultivating soil for over 10 thousand years. Only a school textbook can place a chapter dedicated to the irrigation farming after a chapter about short-rotation farming used by ancient Slavs. The real historical process has no leaps in time because agriculture has been evolving gradually and one can find ups and downs, discoveries and inventions in this process. But the most important thing is that it has regularities.

Sometimes, solved problems live their own, independent lives.
Not long ago, I visited Korea and heard an interesting story about a refrigerator home bar. I knew that solvers could not solve that problem for a long time. They were about to lose heart but decided to consult schoolchildren who ultimately helped them cope with it. I hardly recognized the problem we (Kim Hyo June and me) were solving in 2001. Though simple, it stuck to our memory.

A staff of elimination of failure has reacted to our article «Disaster in Gulf of Mexico». They have noticed, that the prime problem for them is how to close a pipeline.

The TV set brought bad news again.
The well on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico is still bleeding, poisoning the environment. Huge forces are attracted for containing the spill: “armada” of vessels, a concrete containment dome, a sarcophagus equal in height to a five-storeyed building… Not so impressive as in our Chernobyl, of course, but still very large. There was a chance to cope with the disaster.

It is often difficult to understand its boundaries. TRIZ is, on the contrary, easy to determine, especially as regards its methodology. TRIZ has a definite purpose – the solving of inventive problems. The entire power of TRIZ is focused in the space between a problem and a solution to the problem, between a situation having some disadvantage and an improved situation.

Each key action of inventive project can be performed by various innovation methods, mini-algorithm and tools. Proposed algorithm organizes them into united structure, shows place and goal of each tool. Algorithm forms peculiar “control system” of thinking process.
